Case study · Speculative design as portfolio

CindySingularity Corp: a megacorporation, built end to end.

A fictional public company with seven product lines, a developer platform, an investor relations program, and a complete content marketing stack: every artifact written, designed, and shipped as working proof of technical product marketing.

The brief, self-set.

Portfolios for technical product marketers are hard to show: the real work is confidential, collaborative, and scattered across decks, docs, and launch threads. So I built a company that could not object.

CindySingularity Corp is a speculative consumer-technology conglomerate: memory, thought, presence, and climate as products, rendered with the complete artifact set of a real public company. The fiction supplies the subject; every document type is executed straight, in its genuine professional register. The unease lives only in the referent. The prose is always calm.

The artifact inventory.

Everything below is live, linked, and written in the register its real-world counterpart would use.

What it demonstrates.

Positioning & messaging architecture

One corporate thesis (“Continuity is the product”) expressed consistently across seven brands and every document type, without repetition.

Developer documentation

API reference with realistic endpoints, scopes, error semantics, changelog discipline, and a quickstart engineered around a single narrative reveal.

Pricing & packaging

Tiered platform pricing, per-unit consumer pricing, metered billing with an itemized invoice, and pricing-guidance rules for a sales motion.

Register control

SEC risk-factor voice, wire-service PR, shareholder-letter cadence, support-center tone, journal abstracts, enablement battlecards, SLA legalese, social captions, and customer reviews with corporate replies, each executed straight.

Design systems

A locked type system, one-accent-per-viewport color logic, WebGL and motion used sparingly, and a document design language shared across web and PDF.

Canon management

Numbers, entities, and claims reconcile across every artifact: the same figures appear in the hero, the IR page, the annual report, and the help center.

Marketing engineering

A doctrine audit runs in every deploy: typographic law, head properties, sitemap parity, and internal link resolution fail the build before anything reaches review.

Presentation systems

A full deck program, brand launches through analyst day, produced by a code-driven PPTX and PDF pipeline and filed in The Record.

Craft notes.

The register rule. Every document is written the way its real counterpart is written. Comedy and dread come from one word turned, never from the prose winking. A trust center that reads like a trust center is scarier than parody.

The signature. A single number, 41.2, runs through the universe: revenue, share price, headcount, memory counts, days enrolled. It rewards close reading and made canon reconciliation a design constraint rather than a chore.

Color as the product. The corporate chrome is void and ink; hue belongs to products alone, one accent per viewport. The homepage hero renders this literally: a silk shader carrying only the rotating brand color.

“A household will accept by the handful what it might question by the system.”
